About me
my profession is that of an engineer, so I’m considered to be a “rational problem solver”. Doing photography enables me to completely disengage from my professional every day business and enjoy fascinating moments and places. As you probably have noticed from viewing my photographies I am particularly fond of landscapes. It is sometimes quite challenging to save the beauty of a location in a certain perspective into a two dimensional picture (and often enough it does not come out as perfect as the original). On the other hand, this creative process inside breathtaking landscapes is a so relaxing moment, which I do not want to miss anymore. The digital process delivers very creative moments after the actual picture taking by the development process. Often, this creative process delivers multiple and astonishing variants of the same raw data.
So, I’m not a professional, I would rate myself as ambitioned hobby photograph. How I got there? Well, taking an art class in high school I had the opportunity to learn photography; of course analogue and b/w. But we had a complete dark room and learned the complete process, which did a great deal of setting me up for this hobby. I purchased my first SLR camera in 1977; I had to work for it for half a year. Relatively late, in 2009, I stepped over to digital photography and hat no clue about all these new possibilities. This changed completely on a trip to Antartica, where I met a lot users of the Lightroom software. Since 2014 I regularly enjoy dedicated photo trips, where I have the opportunity to meet other photographers and learn from them. My wife knows me much better than I do and made the first trip as gift to me. I am very thankful to her for this, as she has beautified my life.
